Tafsir of Surah An-Naba 78:40
﴿إِنَّا أَنذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا﴾
Translation of the meaning
Indeed, We have warned you of an impending punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
فإن الله عز وجل يوم القيامة يحشر البهائم ويقتص لبعضها من بعض ثم يقول لها: كوني ترابا. فتصير ترابا. فيقول الكافر حينئذ {يا ليتني كنت ترابا}«مجموع الفتاوى» 4/248Imam Ibn al-Qayyim
وأن الله تعالى يجمع الوحوش ثم يقتص من بعضها لبعض ثم يقول لها: كوني ترابا فتكون ترابا فعندها يقول الكافر: {يا ليتني كنت ترابا} .«بدائع الفوائد» 3/183
